Advisory Board's Sherman Silber Receives Eads Award
Advisory Board member Sherman Silber, M.D., received the Academy of Science of St. Louis' 2008 James B. Eads Award at an April 16 ceremony at the Chase Park Plaza Hotel. The award is presented annually to an individual for innovation in engineering, technology, and/or an outstanding project wtih major national or local impact.

A renowned pioneer in microsurgery and infertility, Silber is considered one of the world's leading authorities on vasectomy reversal and tubal ligation reversal surgery. He performed the world's first microsurgical vasectomy reversal, as well as the first testicle transplant and the world's first ovary transplant. Silber is the author of three medical textbooks, four best-selling books for the layperson, including the best-seller How to Get Pregnant, and more than 150 scientific papers on human infertility and reproduction. He also has collaborated with the
St. Louis Zoo and other organizations on improving the fertility of endangered species.
