Submission Guidelines & Process

SBT Global Academic Conference


PROPOSAL SUBMISSION

You will be able to submit your proposal on the conference website after September 1, 2009 by going to the submit proposal page. Once submitted, all communication for proposal review will be handled via automated email. To ensure the integrity of the peer review process all proposals must be received by December 5, 2009. Authors will be advised by December 20, 2009 if their proposal has been accepted and will then be invited to submit their presentation for review and subsequent approval prior to the conference. Please refer to the conference timeline for additional important dates.

SESSION FORMAT

Presentations can be in the following formats:

  • professional practice/application
  • case studies
  • technical report
  • management report
  • commentaries on developments in literature and practice
  • scholarly research
  • panel discussion *if interested, contact Brad Wolaver

LENGTH OF SESSIONS

Conference sessions will be limited to 45 minute: 30 minutes for author's presentation followed by 15 minutes for questions.

PROPOSAL SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Proposals should contain an element of inter-activeness for this conference. It should engage conference participants and encourage discussion.

The proposal you submit should consist of the following information in order to be considered complete.

  • Faculty Name
  • Site/Campus
  • Status (adjunct, full-time, visiting)
  • Session Title
  • Requirements (Presentation room, Computer Lab, Computer, etc.)
  • Area of Focus
  • Format (choose a session format for proposal)
  • Description (limited to 500 words)
  • Goals/Objectives (limited to 200 words)
  • Activities/Methods (limited to 200 words)
  • Outcomes (limited to 100 words)

PROPOSAL EVALUATION CRITERIA

All proposals will undergo a peer review and selection. Each proposal will be evaluated against 5 criteria to ensure a solid proposal.

  1. Relevance of study or inquiry to the aims of the conference and to the wider research community
  2. Clarity and coherence of research questions(s) and/or focus of inquiry
  3. Integration of literature and research pertinent to proposal topic
  4. Rigor of analytical and/or theoretical framework
  5. Significance of contribution to new or innovative practices or study/inquiry into education practice, policy or theory

PROPOSAL REVIEW SELECTION PROCESS

Proposals will be reviewed by a panel of three faculty from Webster University's School of Business and Technology. Majority rule’s will apply in the selection of a proposal. Notifications of acceptance or decline will not contain the review panel’s feedback.
