Introducing the Certificate in Nonprofit Management
A Graduate Program Focusing on the Business Side of Nonprofits
Leading today’s nonprofit organization requires a unique blend of “heart” and business. Often this blend results in conflict—how to meet the increasing demand to deliver the mission with limited or depleting resources. Nonprofit Organization leaders can no longer just focus on delivering their mission. They must know how to blend the business side with delivery of mission. Further, donors are increasingly and rightfully expecting nonprofits to exercise good managerial and fiscal judgment along with delivery of mission.
Webster University’s new graduate Certificate in Nonprofit Management is specifically designed for passionate and committed people who are challenged to face these new realities. The Certificate marries theory to practice. It enables practitioners to understand, effectively manage, and promote vitally and foresight to ensure financially sound nonprofits.
The 18-credit-hour graduate Certificate delivers six business-focused courses for students with business or non-business undergraduate degrees. Courses focus on a holistic approach, exposing students to all aspects of the nonprofit decision-making process. The Certificate provides the “capacity building” sought by today’s nonprofit organizations. Students will develop real-world nonprofit business skills focused on fulfilling an organization’s mission and achieving the goal of becoming a self-sustaining organization.
