Anheuser-Busch VP Tells Dean’s Club Whassup?!

Bob Lachky, vice president for brand management and global creative director for Anheuser-Busch’s worldwide brand image, presented an insider’s view of A-B’s Super Bowl advertising strategies at the May 15 meeting of the Dean's Club Speakers Series. Lachky directs the marketing and advertising of the over 40 brands produced by the world’s largest brewer.

During his presentation, Lachky charted the evolution of Anheuser-Busch’s Super Bowl advertising campaigns from the inception of Bud Bowl to the present. Lachky provided insight into such successful ad campaigns as “Whassup?!,” “Frogs” and “Louie the Lizard,” which he was responsible for creating as Budweiser brand marketing director. Lachky also oversaw the creation of two of Bud Light’s more memorable ad campaigns and catch phrases—“I love you, man” and “Yes, I am.”

Jennifer Condren, senior account executive in the Marketing/PR department at Nestle Purina PetCare and School of Communications alum, attended the presentation with her boss, who also holds a Webster degree. “Hearing strategies and success stories from such an influential company really encourages me in my own career,” said Condren, who is starting her MBA this fall.
