Execs Polish People Skills Executives interested in enhancing their interpersonal skills recently attended an intensive seminar, Leadership through People Skills, conducted by the Center for Professional Development at the School of Business & Technology. The seminar, which was held over a four-day period beginning April 29, covered such topics as empowering people, applying influence skills and getting commitment from employees to meet current business challenges. Fourteen executives from a variety of major U.S. companies, such as Boeing, Energizer, Nestle Purina and Quest Diagnostics, gathered at the Chase Park Plaza in St. Louis for the seminar, which was held in partnership with Psychological Associates. Maher Mishriki, associate dean of the School of Business and Technology, says that participants gained valuable tools through the training, which will help them operate in today's rapidly changing business world. The modern work environment is characterized by a team-based structure, an increasing diversity of the workforce and globalization, says Mishriki. All of these factors contribute to the increasing need for people skills. For more information on future offerings from the Center for Professional Development, contact the center at 1-800-515-1306.
