Organizational and Business Security Management

browserhttpWHAT IT IS
An online master’s degree program in Organizational and Business Security Management, jointly created by Webster University and the American Society for Industrial Security (ASIS). This new 36-credit hour program is adapted from the current ASIS/Webster campus-based degree program that began in 1986 and has more than 400 graduates worldwide.

WHO IT’S FOR
Mid-career security managers who are seeking a security-specific graduate degree in the context of business management. It’s also ideal for transitioning law enforcement and military personnel who want to enter the security management profession.

WHAT IT COVERS
The curriculum includes required courses on asset protection, information security, legal and ethical issues and emergency planning, a security overview course developed by ASIS and at least 12 elective credits from Webster's MBA program offerings.

HOW LONG IT TAKES
The 36 credit-hour program can be completed in about 2
1/2 years by taking one course in each of the five, nine-week terms per year.

WHO TEACHES IT
Instructors for OBSM courses are drawn from Webster’s worldwide faculty pool and possess significant professional credentials as security managers and directors in organizations, such as the Department of Defense, Federal Bureau of Investigations and National Security Agency. All instructors are specially trained to teach online.

HOW IT’S DIFFERENT
Unlike security’s traditional academic affiliation with criminal justice, Webster’s program has no criminal justice requirements. The core courses and electives focus on the business management aspects of security management.

WHY IT’S RELEVANT
The current climate of heightened vulnerability is causing an increased demand for skilled managers trained in critical aspects of security, asset management and emergency preparedness.

HOW TO REGISTER
Prospective students may register through any Webster University extended campus location, at the school’s home campus in St. Louis or online at www.webster.edu/worldclassroom.
