Webster professor publishes a new book,
Crossing the Executive Digital Divide

Gelbstein Photo

Dr. Eduardo Gelbstein, a business and management professor at Webster's international campus in Geneva, Switzerland has published a new book entitled, "Crossing the Executive Digital Divide."

An author and specialist in information systems/information technology domains and their interface for decision making with management, he is also the former Director of the United Nations International Computing Center and is currently an advisor to the United Nations Board of Directors.

Book photoThe Book Review from DiploBooks says: Information and Communications Technologies (ICT) have become critical in business, government, manufacturing, critical infrastructures, academia, and, literally, everywhere else, and yet, despite the large sums of money involved, ICT remains the least well understood function in an organization. Perhaps not surprisingly the track record of ICT is mixed. It can be so successful that owners are widely regarded as leaders in their field or it can be a source of concern because of delays, higher than expected costs, disappointing performance, and exposures to risk. Even worse, many situations can only be described as failures. One common factor emerges from the success stories: executives and their ICT people work together for the benefit of their organization. These jargon-free publications focus on the main issues relevant to decision and policy makers and discuss what executives can do to participate successfully in the Information Age and achieve successful, sustainable outcomes. "Crossing the Executive Digital Divide" is available in two formats: a short, booklet form (part of our Information Society Library series) for those who wish to read about main concepts and strategies, and as a longer book for those who wish for more in-depth examination of the issues.

Since 2002, Gelbstein has been an advisor on IT matters to the French National Audit Office (Cour des Comptes) and the United Nations Board of External Auditors. "Over the years, I have provided audit and consultancy services to several UN Organizations in Geneva, London, Paris, New York and Rome as well as non-governmental organizations," he explained. "I'm also a senior fellow of the UN Institute for Training and Research and the Diplo Foundation (the latter provides online postgraduate tuition in diplomacy related matters) and an active member of the Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA)."

Fluent in Spanish, Polish, English, French, Italian, Dutch and German, Gelbstein has lived and worked in many countries and published numerous publications and conference papers. He has been a key part of the Webster business school faculty since 2004.
