The Ampersand Named One of Nation's Best at Annual Convention
The Columbia Scholastic Press Association recently named The Ampersand, Webster University's student magazine, as one of its 2006 Gold Crown recipients. The Gold Crown is awarded to the six best college magazines in the country.
The Ampersand is a full-color magazine that includes profiles, editorials, reviews and eclectic submissions from the Webster student population. It is produced twice a year, completely by students.
The Columbia Press Association is owned by Columbia University in New York City and operated as a program affiliated with its Graduate School of Journalism.

Advertising Presentation Wins Second Place at Nationals
Webster University students in June garnered second place at the American Advertising Federation's National Student Advertising Competition in San Francisco.
The competition called for student groups to create and present a full advertising campaign for Postal Vault, a company that manufactures, sells and distributes postal and delivery receptacles.
Webster students advanced to the national competition after taking first place in its district, the third time it has done so in the past six years.

CBS Anchor and Webster Groves-Native Russ Mitchell Speaks on Campus
CBS Anchor and Webster Groves-Native Russ Mitchell addressed the globalization of communication and reflected on his early years as a journalist during his recent visit to Webster University.
The globalization of communications is a good thing, Mitchell said, but it raises the stakes for those committed to providing quality television news programs in the mold of Walter Cronkite and others.
