After brainstorming ideas for that big pitch to the account executives (faculty), you deserve a break. It's time to join us at the Club! The Marketing Communications Club (MCC) is the official student organization for advertising/marketing communications majors. It offers junior associates (undergraduates) an opportunity to learn more about the industry and to meet and socialize outside the office (classroom). Meeting at the Club has its benefits. It provides contacts with other professionals who already work in the advertising industry in St. Louis. The Club is an official student chapter of both the Business Marketing Association, St. Louis Advertising and Marketing Association, and the American Advertising Federation. The Club invites guest speakers to the university and attends professional organizational meetings and awards ceremonies. This is a great way to network with others and market yourself so other clients (potential employers) might take an interest in seeing your portfolio (student work). It gets back to the old saying, "It's not what you know, it's who you know!" The MCC knows all the "who's who" (guest speakers) who might pop in at the Club. The Club is free to all majors. No cover... No ID's required...
The Club has have taken tours of large companies such as DMB&B, Color Art Printing, DIMAC, and Maritz Communications. One of the best times of the year is the St. Louis Addy's, an awards show for the best advertising in St. Louis. You have an opportunity to help work at the ceremony and meet the best in the business. Another popular event is "shadow day" where the junior associates (undergraduates) get to spend a day at an advertising agency. This gives the junior associates (undergraduates) a real behind-the-scenes look at your future dream job.
The MCC is a fun club that helps you learn more about the advertising
field, meet and socialize outside of work (class) and, most importantly,
have fun at the Club. Now's the time to think about stopping in
the Club for a couple of...minutes to find out what it's all about.
You never know who might see walking into the Club, the doors
are always open! (This page created by |
