Teaching Philosophy It's all about the students. This is the foundation of my personal teaching philosophy. I am fortunate enough, as a 25 year professional in the music business, to recognize that music is a service industry. We serve producers, record companies and, ultimately, consumers. Similarly, teaching is a service industry and I serve my students. Another advantage to being an industry professional is that I treat everyone as a professional, including my students. It means I am more demanding since, as professionals, I expect my students to be prompt and ready to work, but it also means that students who earn my respect have it for life, as the professionals they intend be.
About Gary Gottlieb considers himself a music generalist. He became a professional musician at 13, has worked in the radio industry off and on for 30 years and served as a music critic for nine.

Credits as a sound designer include numerous off-off-Broadway productions, community theatre productions throughout New England and college productions at Marlboro and Plymouth State colleges.
He worked as a music critic and entertainment writer for the Deerfield Valley News in West Dover, Vt., and disc jockey for WEQX-FM in Manchester, Vt. Gottlieb also owned and operated a mobile DJ service.
