Dear Alumni,

Who says a quality Webster education ends at graduation? It’s certainly not us.

We here at the School of Communications want to make sure our grads don’t get left behind as technology races on. It’s why we’re offering free seminars to our alumni … well, they’re not exactly free, but they are pretty close.

The SOC this fall will launch a series of 1-credit seminars designed to help media professionals learn more about the latest computer programs affecting their field. The first, Photoshop for Media Professionals, will be Oct. 26–27.

Maybe Photoshop didn’t exist when you roamed the halls of Webster University. Maybe you took a class as an undergraduate and just want a refresher course on what the program can do. Whatever your reason for taking it, this abbreviated class should be a great one.

The class was designed with you in mind, teaching practical approaches for media professionals working with Adobe Photoshop. Those who enroll in the class will complete a digital restoration of an old, damaged photograph. They’ll also cover type placement and Photoshop’s page layout tools by creating a digital album page.

The class will last from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. on Friday and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday. Now, here’s the catch. While you won’t have to pay the per-credit-hour rate, you will have to find $50 for registration proving the best things in life really aren’t free but can be pretty close to it.

Look for an e-mail invitation about the 1-credit classes coming soon, so stay tuned!

Sincerely,

Debra Carpenter
Dean, School of Communications
