Onward! › Words from the Dean
Dear Alumni,
Happy New Year! What images come to mind when you think about the School of Communications?
Is it the stately image of Webster Hall? A classroom inside of Sverdrup? How about a peaceful canal running through a quaint Dutch village or a tropical locale just 15 minutes from a sun-drenched beach? They’re all correct.
The School of Communications is more than the home campus in St. Louis. It spans the globe.
Communications undergraduate students earn media communications degrees in Austria, The Netherlands, Switzerland, Thailand and the United States.
Check out Chai, The Journal or Jugendstil. They’re the respective student newspapers in Thailand, St. Louis and Leiden that feature some of these students’ talents and abilities. Or how about the publication you’re perusing right now?
All are designed to keep you informed and connected. And isn’t that
what a great school is all about? Not only does your diploma prepare you to launch your media communications career, but it also means you’re a member of a global network that continues to develop and grow!
In the next issues of SCAN we’d like to profile those of you who studied at locations beyond the home campus in St. Louis. We know you’re out there! Let us know what you’re up to and how we can better connect School of Communications’ students around the globe.
We want to ensure the global network flourishes to make your degree as valuable as possible. Plus, we want to brag about your global success to all our friends!
Sincerely,

Debra Carpenter Dean, School of Communications Webster University
