Teacher Certification
The Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) accredits the Missouri teacher preparation/certification programs at Webster University.
Webster University School of Education offers the following initial certifications, which may be pursued at both the undergraduate and graduate level.
- Early Childhood Education (birth-3)
- Elementary Education (1-6)
- Middle School Education (5-9)
- Language Arts
- Social Studies
- Mathematics
- Science
- Secondary Education
- Art (K-12)
- English (9-12)
- Foreign Language (K-12) (French, German, Spanish)
- Mathematics (9-12)
- Music (K-12)
- Social Studies (9-12)
- Unified Science/Biology (9-12)
- Special Education (K-12) (Mild/Moderate Cross-Categorical)
In addition to the certification areas listed above, the following advanced certifications may be pursued at the graduate level.
- Early Childhood Special Education (birth-3)

- Reading Specialist (K-12)
- Severely Developmentally Disabled
As part of our Education Specialist degree (Ed.S.) the following administrative certification areas may be pursued:
- Elementary Principal (K-8)
- Middle School Principal (5-9)
- Secondary Principal (7-12)
- Special Education Director (K-12)
In order to determine what coursework, requirements and/or documentation may be required to complete teacher certification, contact the teacher certification office to schedule an appointment. Note: you will need to provide copies of transcripts in order to have a certification evaluation completed.
