Katherine Golden is the Sustainability Education Manager at the EarthWays Center, the sustainability division of the Missouri Botanical Garden in St. Louis, Missouri. Kat is a long-time sustainability educator dedicated to building connections between people and place. Graduating from Truman State University with a degree in Environmental Studies in 2010, Katherine went on to work for both the St. Louis Science Center and the Missouri Botanical Garden. Kat also holds a Master in Education for Global Sustainability from Webster University. She works closely with K-12 educators, students and administrators, as well as higher education institutions, businesses and municipalities to increase sustainability through the St. Louis region. Kat’s experience with topics such as energy, water, and waste/recycling often earns her the nickname of the “garbage” or “worm” lady - which she thinks is the best compliment she could get from students. She is passionate about using education as a way to nurture stewardship; creating citizens that are knowledgeable, empowered and active players in solving the challenges facing her community.
