Applied Educational Psychology and School Psychology

The Applied Educational Psychology and School Psychology programs prepare scientist-practitioners who collaborate with teachers, parents, school personnel, and community members to promote educationally and psychologically healthy environments for all children and youth. All children and youth includes young people from all socioeconomic backgrounds, races, ethnicities, cultures, languages, geographic locations, religions, genders, and abilities.

Candidates for these programs should possess a keen interest in collaboration, a strong work ethic, and a compassionate, empathic disposition. Our students don’t wait until they graduate to make their professional contributions. Many Applied Educational Psychology students will write a thesis; all students contribute to the “knowledge base” in educational and school psychology through professional projects, presentations, and publications.

Master's Degree in Applied Educational Psychology

Coursework includes assessment, effective instruction, intercultural communications, personality development, behavior management and applied research. As part of the international network of Webster University, graduates of this program emerge with an increased understanding of themselves and others. Education Specialist in Applied Educational Psychology: School Psychology

This Ed.S. curriculum completes the academic preparation and professional training required for individuals to become school psychologists. This program is approved for school psychologist certification by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education and is aligned with the guidelines of ISPA and NASP. Coursework gives future school psychologists the knowledge and skills they need to promote well-being, resilience, and academic success for all children and youth. The program, which emphasizes respect for human diversity and global perspectives, includes intensive practicum experiences and culminates in a 1200 hour comprehensive, supervised, and carefully evaluated internship in school psychology.
