Reading connects us with the world and is fundamental to success — in school, at work and in everyday life. Despite being so critical, many students struggle to read at a developmentally acceptable level. Webster University’s Master of Arts in Reading is for K-12 educators who are passionate about this foundational capability and want to become master reading teachers, literacy coaches or other expert instructional roles.
Our degree program develops knowledgeable learners, informed instructors, reflective collaborators and responsive readers. Coursework is built upon cognitive, socio-constructivist and socio-cultural theories in language and literacy learning. We integrate all aspects of literacy, including reading, writing, thinking, listening, speaking and viewing to give you a broad perspective and in-depth expertise.
Recognized by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) and the International Reading Association (IRA), this program will help you enrich the lives of students, families, and other teachers both inside and outside of the classroom.
