Welcome to the Equity in Education Conference

Thank you for your interest and engagement in our School of Education' conference on Equity in Education.

Our opening keynote speaker, Billie Mayo, will provide us with thought-provoking ideas to consider and act upon for the issues surrounding equity in education. She has served as the Assistant to the Chief Academic Office of the St. Louis Public Schools and the Director of the Saint Louis Urban Educational Leadership Cohort. Billie has offered her insight on building multicultural alliances in workshops in the Virgin Islands, Portland Oregon, Wichita and Winfield Kansas, University City, Riverview Gardens, Saint Louis Public Schools and many other places. We’re sure you will find the topics from our other presenters and panel members very insightful as well.

Our capable and engaging presenters have prepared a series of stimulating presentations to engage us in thought-provoking conversations about issues of racial and social justice in our community.

This fourth annual conference finds us at a time of great debate on issues of diversity in our community. As a school of education, we are committed to engaging our community in meaningful and supportive ways.

I want to thank the members of our School of Education community who have prepared this 2018 conference. Faculty, staff, students and community partners have contributed to make this a most exciting and rewarding day for all of us.
