2016 Teaching Festival
Join us February 15-19, 2016 for a variety of events related to the scholarship of teaching and learning facilitated by Webster faculty, staff, and students. A poster reception will feature topics such as engaging students in a first year seminar, helping students transition to researchers, bridging the gap between international students and support services, using 'the apprentice' to teach managerial economics, the evolution of an evolution course, creating a global context for student learning, and teaching with innovative technologies. A roundtable will showcase the the capstone and other culminating experiences: What Students Data Can Tell Us About Their Benefits and Challenges.This year’s festival will feature hands-on workshops. Join Mary Ann Drake, Chair, Nursing Department, Don Conway-Long, Professor, Anthropology and Sociology Department, and Kate Parsons, Professor, Philosophy Department for a Safe Zone Workshop which is defined meant to educate individuals on LGBTQ issues and help members of college communities (students, professors, administrators, and staff) become better allies to LGBTQ students and more aware of gender and sexuality issues. Other sessions including Teaching Writing: Genre Theory, and other exciting topics will take place throughout the week.
All events will be held in the Faculty Development Center Suite, 420 Emerson Library, except for the WebNet+ workshop, which will be held in the Library Conference Room.
