1098-T Tax Forms, 2013 Available After January 31, 2014
Your 2013 1098T tax form is being completed in accordance with IRS guidelines, and it will be filed with the Internal Revenue Service. Webster University will mail hard copy forms on Friday, January 31, and an electronic version will be available online through Connections. Electronic forms for prior tax years are also currently available through Connections.
Webster University may not provide information about educational tax credits or eligibility. We recommend that you obtain a copy of the IRS Publication 970, Tax Benefits of Education, in order to gain an understanding of the available tax benefits that may effectively lower the cost of your higher education. A copy of IRS Publication 970 is available via the IRS Web site, http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/p970.pdf or by calling 1-800-829-3676.
Federal regulations allow higher educational institutions to report either payments received in box 1 or amounts billed in box 2. Webster University reports qualified tuition and fees billed for the spring 2013 through fall 2013 terms in box 2 in compliance with IRS requirements. We do not report payments received, so box 1 is appropriately blank. It is the tax payer’s responsibility to identify what payments were made to the University related to qualified tuition and related expense. This form may not be used for this purpose, but a detailed statement of your 2013 calendar year account activity with Webster University, including payments, can be obtained on-line through your Connections account. Select the "View Account History by Date" link from inside the Student Account Financial Services channel located on the right side of the page within the Student tab.
