The Lighting Design program at Webster provides some of the most exciting opportunities the Conservatory has to offer. Webster is one of the few undergraduate institutions that requires that all of the productions be designed by students. Faculty input on production work is strictly advisory. This practice allows students to acquire production experience necessary for the degree and provides representative samples for their portfolio.

In addition, our students assist all of the Repertory Theatre of St. Louis lighting designers. This provides terrific networking opportunities which have served our graduates very well over the years. The best designers in the country pass through our doors and our students get to see their process up close.
This combination of practical stage work, conceptual work in the design studio, and working side-by-side with professional designers creates a unique opportunity for the artists' professional growth.
