The Department of Dance at Webster University offers BFA and BA degrees in Dance with an emphasis in Ballet or Modern. Ballet, Modern, and Composition classes are offered as part of the core curriculum.
Additional required courses may include: Jazz, Tap, Pointe, Men's Class, Cross Training, Somatics, Improvisation, Dance History, Living Anatomy and Movement, Costume Design and Construction, Performance Art, Musicianship, Pedagogy, Media, and Acting.
BFA students receive a total of three years of choreographic experience. As a capstone
project, the BFA candidate is required to choreograph approximately 20 minutes for
a concert and successfully complete all aspects of production including costuming,
lighting and PR/marketing.
BA dance students may double major at Webster University and still audition for all
Webster Dance also offers two minors: one in Dance Technique and one in Dance Theory.
