Heather McKenzie Patterson
Adjunct Professor of Voice
Soprano Heather McKenzie Patterson is one of St. Louis' up-and-coming performing artists
and teachers. Since arriving in 2010, she has appeared with a wide range of Saint
Louis ensembles, including the Saint Louis Symphony Chorus, the Bach Society of Saint
Louis, Webster University Symphony Orchestra, Christ Church Cathedral Choir and Manchester
United Methodist Choirs and Orchestra. This spring she can be seen performing with
Winter Opera in the St. Louis premiere of The Ballad of Baby Doe. Recent operatic engagements have included Yum-Yum in The Mikado (The Beacon St. Louis), Musetta in La Boheme and Frasquita in Carmen (Arbor Opera Theater), and Nella in Gianni Schicchi (Michigan State Opera Theatre). Ms. Patterson currently serves on the voice faculties
of Webster University in Saint Louis and Principia College in Elsah, Illinois. She
received a Master of Music in vocal performance from Michigan State University and
Bachelor of Arts degrees in music and psychology from Furman University. An experienced
teacher, she has held private voice studios in Central Florida, Lansing, Michigan,
and currently in Saint Louis. She has led master classes in high schools in Florida
and Michigan, and has served as adjudicator for various talent competitions in both
Florida and in the Saint Louis area. She currently studies with Christine Armistead.
