Ruth PriceRuth Price received her doctorate in piano performance from the State University of New York at Stony Brook, and a master’s degree from Indiana University under the tutelage of Lee Luvisi, Gyorgy Sebok, and Gilbert Kalish.  

A writer and lecturer on the subject of performers’ analysis, Dr. Price is the author of the book Right Before Your Eyes: A Fresh Approach to Interpreting a Piano Score (Hal Leonard Corporation, 2014). Her work on the book led to a presentation at the 2013 Illinois State Music Teachers Association Conference, and to an article in the May/June 2014 issue of Clavier Companion magazine. In recent years she has also created interdisciplinary art experiences, pairing piano music with children’s books, and collaborating with painters, art historians, and jazz musicians. Ruth accompanies for the Saint Louis Children’s Choirs and plays chamber music with members of the Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra. She teaches piano privately, and has been teaching at Webster University since 1996.
