    About Missouri

Missouri citizens are known for their exciting events, industry, and hospitality. Most participants are in Saint Louis, Columbia and Kansas City, which have the comforts of a large city, and the community of a small town. The New York Times had a review of Saint Louis outlining some of the opportunities many of the GIE participants enjoy while on the program.

Home to the World Series Champion St. Louis Cardinals, professional sports teams also include the Kansas City Royals (baseball), Saint Louis Rams (football), Kansas City Chiefs (football), and the Saint Louis Blues (hockey). College sports are also a popular pastime, and many young people in the area play kickball, baseball, softball, etc., on private teams after work and on the weekends.

Musical artists of all genres stop in Missouri on a regular basis for indoor, outdoor, and occasionally free, shows. Other summer opportunities include theatre, art museums, and the city museum.

    Where is Missouri?
Where the Missouri and Mississippi Rivers meet in the middle of the country. Missouri is a great place to develop a deep understanding of American culture and business. A 5 hour drive from Chicago, and with easy access to both coasts, students often travel before or after participating in the program.

    How's the Weather?
In the winter, Missouri regularly gets down to -7C and is generally rainy/icy. In the summer, Missouri is hot and humid and can get up to 40C. Homes and offices are climate controlled and comfortable. The evenings are nice in the summer and there are a variety of outdoor events throughout the year.
