About Missouri
Missouri citizens are known for their exciting events, industry, and hospitality. Most participants are in Saint Louis, Columbia and Kansas City, which have the comforts of a large city, and the community of a small town. The New York Times had a review of Saint Louis outlining some of the opportunities many of the GIE participants enjoy while on the program.
Home to the World Series Champion St. Louis Cardinals, professional sports teams also include the Kansas City Royals (baseball), Saint Louis Rams (football), Kansas City Chiefs (football), and the Saint Louis Blues (hockey). College sports are also a popular pastime, and many young people in the area play kickball, baseball, softball, etc., on private teams after work and on the weekends.
Musical artists of all genres stop in Missouri on a regular basis for indoor, outdoor, and occasionally free, shows. Other summer opportunities include theatre, art museums, and the city museum.
