In October 2008 General Manager Whitney Gelnett, Assistant General Manager Rick Kilian, and Media Coordinator Jim Singer traveled to Cleveland, Ohio for the OSTN (Open Student Television Network) Conference. During those four days, they attended workshops, lectures, and were able to network with other university television stations from around the country.
In August 2008 GTV returned with a brand new way to recruit and train incoming GTV members: GTV BOOT CAMP. The program would teach 17 new members all the basics of shooting, editing, and programming at GTV. This was the biggest boost in numbers for GTV to date.
In May 2008 GTV celebrated the season by heading out to Uncle Bill’s Pancake House for pancakes, waffles, and steaks. Freshman Sarah Morgan was recognized for her dedication to GTV News and the cooking show, Makin’ It With Morgan. At the end of the night GTV had to say farewell to both Morgan and freshman Andrea Lickteig as both of them would be transferring in the fall.
They will be greatly missed!
In April 2008 the GTV-produced in-studio concert series, Sessions in 131, premiered with the performance of Red Card Royale. This was GTV’s first television studio shoot since its reformation in the fall. Students gathered in the studio to watch the free concert. The concert aired later that week.

In March 2008 GTV’s original cooking show, Making it With Morgan debuted. The show featured Webster students cooking interesting and exotic foods on a college student’s budget. The first episode featured how to make sushi for $10 and the second showed how to make a turkey lasagna. The show was hosted by Sarah Morgan.
Also in December 2007 GTV live-edited the World AIDs Day Concert in the University Center and interviewed several performers including spoken work artist Andrea Gibson.
In December 2007 GTV covered three Webster University (Men’s and Women’s) Basketball games. GTV did a three-camera setup in Grant Gymnasium and provided play-by-play commentary. Each game then aired for several weeks following the Gorloks’ victories.
In November 2007 members of GTV painted old television sets as advertisements for the November 6th premier of the new Channel 10. Members painted the sets while enjoying grilled hot dogs and hamburgers at the WVA Clubhouse.
In October 2007 the new GTV made their first appearance covering the ever popular 1st Fridays. The GTV crew, consisting mostly of freshmen and sophomores, learned essentials of field reporting such as interviewing, camera operating, and setting up/breaking down of equipment.
In September 2007 GTV set up a booth at the annual Involvement Fair with 2 returning members and a very long list of ambitions. Over 50 people signed up for GTV that day.
