NEW YORK TIMES Columnist Paul Krugman to Speak at the Holden Public Policy Forum @ Webster University

Paul Krugman, New York Times op-ed columnist, author and Princeton University professor, will discuss the current state of the United States health care system and other topics covered in his latest book, “The Health Care Crisis and What to Do About It”, co-written by Robin Wells, Wednesday, May 31, at 7 p.m. at the Old Post Office in downtown  St. Louis, 815 Olive Blvd.  Krugman is speaking as part of the Healthy Futures Series of the Holden Public Policy Forum @ Webster University.

Krugman is a professor of economics and international affairs at Princeton University and is an acclaimed author and editor of 20 books and more than 200 papers.  He has written widely on health care issues and has been called “America’s most important columnist” by Washington Monthly, “columnist of the year” by Editor and Publisher and a “top international economist” by The Economist.  In recognition of his significant contribution to economic knowledge and a founder of “new trade theory,” he received the John Bates Clark medal from the American Economic Association. 

Holden Public Policy Forum @ Webster University events are held at the Old Post Office, where Webster University has a campus, with forum events taking place in the third floor Missouri Courtroom of Appeals.

The 2006 Healthy Futures Series focuses on public health issues facing America and the world in the 21st century. Upcoming Healthy Futures speakers include Brigadier General Sheila Baxter, Webster University alumna and first female general in the Medical Services Corps, Sept. 18; and Dr. Charles Inlander, president of the People’s Medical Society and radio commentator, on Sept. 21. Former Missouri Governor Bob Holden and Webster University President Richard S. Meyers, created a bi-partisan lecture series bringing governors, senators, presidential candidates and private sector public policy leaders to St. Louis to discuss key national and international issues.
