This position is very physical in nature and requires incumbent to run across flat land, as well as up and down stairs so as to park and retrieve cars in as little amount of time as possible. Incumbent must be able to reach and grasp to retrieve keys for customers' vehicles. Ability to drive cars of all types. All makes and models of motor vehicles. Must possess a valid state driver’s license and a Department of Motor Vehicles report with no careless motor vehicle accidents and no moving violations within the last three years. The skills and abilities necessary for effective performance within this position are typically acquired through two months of on-the-job training or related experience.

St. Louis Area Organic Farm Seeks Apprentices in 2008

We are a 4 ¼ acre organic vegetable farm on the bluffs of the Mississippi River serving over 180 families through our CSA.  We grow over 60 types of vegetables, flowers, and herbs, over the course of a 27-week distribution season from May through November.  We offer both full-season and half-season apprenticeships
         

No experience required, but apprenticeships are ideally suited to those interested in farming as a career.  Compensation includes a monthly stipend and nearby housing, as well as weekly field trips, discussions, and vegetables.  You should expect to gain skills and experience for more advanced employment in agriculture or for starting a small operation of your own.
         
Interviews will begin after January 14, but apply soon, as applications will be considered as they are received.  Positions will remain open until filled.

Transportation Security Officer (TSO) (Screener)
TSA, St. Louis International Airport

You will perform a variety of duties related to providing security and protection of air travelers, airports and aircraft. You will be responsible for identifying dangerous objects in baggage, cargo and/or on passengers; and preventing those objects from being transported onto aircraft. You are required to perform various tasks such as: wanding, pat down searches, operation of x-ray machines, lift and carry baggage (weighing up to 70 pounds), and screening and ticket review using electronic and imaging equipment. As a TSO, you may perform passenger screening, baggage screening or both. You are expected to perform these duties in a courteous and professional manner.

• Continuously and effectively interact with the public, giving directions and responding to inquiries in a reasonable tone and manner.
• Maintain focus and awareness within an environment containing numerous distractions, people, and noise.
• Stand and remain standing for periods up to 3 hours without sitting.
• Repeatedly lift and carry an object weighing up to 70 pounds.
• Work within a stressful environment, which includes noise from alarms, machinery, and people, distractions, time pressure, disruptive and angry passengers, and the requirement to identify and locate potentially life-threatening devices and devices intended on creating massive destruction.
• Make effective decisions in both crisis and routine situations.

Work Schedule: Part-time (20-32) hours per week. Part-time work hours for this position consists of shift-work on any day from Sunday through Saturday which may include irregular hours, nights and week-end shifts, changing shifts, and split shifts. Specific work schedules will be determined by the airport.
TSA will not pay any pre-employment travel expenses (e.g., travel to and from testing, medical examination facilities and assessment sites). As part of the evaluation process you will be required to travel to a TSA specified medical facility within commuting area of the airport for which you applied.

Qualifications
1. You must be a U.S.Citizen or U.S. National; AND
2. You must have a high school diploma, GED or equivalent; OR at least one year of full-time work experience in security work, aviation screener work, or x-ray technician work.

In order to successfully perform this work, TSO’s must possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:

• English Proficiency (e.g., reading, writing, speaking, listening)
• Mental Abilities (e.g., visual observation and identification, mental rotation)
• Interpersonal Skills (e.g., customer service, dependability)
• Work Values (e.g., responsibility, honesty, integrity)
• Physical Abilities(e.g. repeatedly lifting and carrying baggage weighing up to 70 lbs, bending, reaching, stooping, squatting, standing, and walking and identifying objects by touch).

All TSO’s must meet the following standards:

• Distant vision correctable to 20/30 or better in the best eye and 20/100 or better in the worse eye
• Near vision correctable to 20/40 or better binocular
• Color perception (e.g., red, green, blue, yellow, orange, purple, brown, black, white, gray) note: color filters (e.g., contact lenses) for enhancing color discrimination are prohibited.
• Hearing as measured by audiometry cannot exceed: a) an average hearing loss of 25 decibels (ANSI) at 500, 1000, 2000 and 3000Hz in each ear, b) single reading of 45 decibels at 4000 Hz and 6000 Hz in each ear
• Adequate joint mobility, dexterity and range of motion, strength, and stability (to lift and move objects weighing up to 70 pounds), as well as a complete medical evaluation including cardiovascular system, hypertension, etc.

Webster Groves Live-in Position
Supported Living for Bridges Community Support Services

Description:
We serve individuals with a variety of support needs, abilities, and disabilities.  In our residential program, we are currently seeking out college and graduate students who might be interested in a great opportunity.  We are looking to open a 3 person home in the Webster Groves area that we would need one to two persons to live in the upstairs apartment (free of rent and utilities... .including high speed cable and internet and possibly partially furnished) who would provide asleep night time support to 2-3 individuals who live in the first floor of the home.  The live in staff would be able to sleep, but required to be available in cases of emergency during the night in the rare cases of illness or need to be assisted in using the toilet.  The home is large, beautiful, and in a great neigborhood, and the positions would include a monthly stipend in addition to the free rent/utilities, and possibly some food.  Additionally, we are looking for individuals who would be interested in supporting the residents of the home throughout their days or evenings, and again the families involved prefer college students and/or graduate students.  They've had great luck with your school in the past and are really hoping that you have interested people.  I can be reached at our office at (314) 781-7900 ext. 15 or on my cell phone at (314) 413-9257.  Thanks, I look forward to hearing from you soon.
