Purpose:

Responsibilies-CHADS Coalition for Mental Health (a 501c3 organization) has need for a student to work 5 to 10 hours per week on its web site (www.chadscoalition.org). Our vision is for the website to be a one-stop shop for parents, youth and educators to navigate the mental health world for education, awareness, direction and stories of hope. The website will also serve CHADS Coalition with volunteer, donation and event management. This past year the website was used to promote events and to encourage donations. CHADS Coalition wants to take the website to the next level. We want to increase the mental health content, supply links to high quality sites, provide direction for educational issues and provide stories of hope.
Qualifications-The ideal candidate must have experience in website development and design. The candidate should have good communication skills and be willing to take the lead on site design. The candidate should relate well with adolescents, young adults and parents. The website will need to be attractive to all ages. The ideal candidate should have a passion for adolescent mental health issues particularly depression, bi-polar disorder and suicide. We are in the business of saving teenagers lives. Purpose:
To provide clerical assisance to the Dept. of History, Politics, an International Relations, as well as office coverage in the late
afternoon/early evening.
Duties:
The HPIR department needs two student workers to assist in administrative support. In the office, student workers must: answer the phone, make copies, file, fax, and distribute and sort the mail.
Students will also learn to assist with ordering desk copies of textbooks for instructors, proctor exams when necessary, administer student course evaluations, and retrieve reading material and media material from the library per instructor request. Student workers are also required to run errands on campus: take files or correspondence to other offices, take cash deposits to the Business Office, etc.
Required Qualifications:
Knowledge of office practice and procedures; ability to communicate effectively with professors, staff, and students.
Must be computer literate; experience in Windows and Microsoft software, plus basic knowledge of office equipment. Must be reliable and maintain confidentiality when working with student information.
Preferred Qualifications:

National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse – St. Louis Area, Public Policy Assistant
Federal Work study
This is a part time position reporting to NCADA’s director of community services. The position involves working on a St. Louis County tax initiative to raise funds for children’s services, including substance abuse prevention and treatment. The position will work with NCADA and other not-for-profit leaders in planning and implementing a campaign for the tax initiative targeted for the November 2008 election. This is a comprehensive, grassroots campaign involving community organization, fund raising, public education and advocacy.
This position is ideal for a student wishing to get hands-on-experience in pubic policy and community organization. It is also an excellent opportunity to work directly with some of the region’s not-for-profit leadership, particularly those in youth serving organizations. The position will be housed at the NCADA office located at 8790 Manchester Road in Brentwood, Missouri.

Training is ongoing, comprehensive and provided by Science Center staff. Work schedules to support high visitation during summer and holiday afternoons are desirable. During the school year, weekends and weekday morning work schedules are preferred. Work obligations are in the range of twelve to twenty hours per week.
Education and/or Experience :
Sixty or more hours of college level coursework is required, preferably in the areas of teaching, early childhood education and/or science. Related work experiences are desirable.
Language Skills :
Excellent communication skills are required to translate science and technology topics to a diverse audience of visitors. QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge or interest in space sciences and the ability to impart that interest to the visitors in an exciting fashion is extremely beneficial. Demonstrated proficiency in grammar, communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work effectively with and provide service to internal staff as well as external customers; enthusiastic and self-motivated; flexible. Ability to work varied hours, including weekends, evenings, and holidays; ability to handle a wide range of customer situations using your best judgment and tact, to the benefit of the guest and the SLSC; ability to offer suggestions for change that benefit the team and the Science Center.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or GED, with some college. A working knowledge of, or interest, in space sciences a definite plus.

Qualifications:
We are looking for a computer savvy student who would enjoy preparing and updating web pages for all of the Student Affairs departments at Webster. The web designer will design and update web pages, take digital photos, and create on-line forms. The web designer will work with a wide variety of staff within Student Affairs, so students will be expected to communicate in a friendly and professional manner. Students should be reliable and able to work independently. Students should have a quality orientation, attention to detail, and good design skills. Experience with web design and HTML programming required. Experience with digital photography would be helpful. Qualified applicant would have experience with and access to computers with the appropriate software for creating web pages. Experience with recent technologies (iPods, YouTube, social networking sites like MySpace, etc.) a plus. Students will be expected to work 8-15 hours a week.

Job Responsibilities:
The Student Literacy Corps (SLC) is a community service project in which Webster students are trained as reading tutors and serve in local schools and other agencies that provide literacy education for new and struggling readers of all ages. Tutors will receive basic training in literacy tutoring and have access to a limited supply of books, worksheets, games,and activities to engage their students in reading and writing. Tutors should also be prepared to work on specific literacy activities recommended by teachers (ie; listening to your student read a story, helping him/her to write an essay or study a vocabulary list, etc.). Tutors choose the age of their students and the site at which they will tutor but the program emphasizes service to high-needs students and sites (ie, lower income and urban neighborhoods). Students are currently being sought to start tutoring early next semester.
Qualifications:
Except for those who have successfully completed two Reading courses, no new tutors are being hired for Fall semester. Tutor training will be offered from 9:00-2:00 on Saturday, September 8th and is mandatory for all new tutors. Need English skills, patience, flexibility, and respect for others. Experience working with children and access to a vehicle are both helpful but not required.

The American Kennel Club Museum of the Dog, Museum Assistant

Purpose: 1) To assist with admissions on the weekend (Sundays from 1 to 5 p.m.); and, 2) to work with the Director in building a library of electronic images of works of art in the permanent collection. The individual may also be asked to assist the Gift Shop Manager as needed in the Gift Shop to catalog new inventory. The position will involve a variety of tasks that will not be boring.
Duties: Admissions on Sundays from 1 to 5 p.m. The person will be asked to open the Museum for visitors making sure the exhibit galleries are in order (lights on, doors unlocked). The person will be asked to greet visitors and take admission fees. He/she might be asked on occasion to assist in the Gift Shop as needed.
The individual will work closely with the Director in establishing an electronic library of images of art in the permanent collection. Photography will be required.
The individual will work with the Gift Shop Manager in pricing new inventory as it is received. He/she may be asked to be available on occasion to assist with Gift Shop sales.

Webster Groves Park And Recreation, Various Positions (Work Study)
RECREATION AIDE/AFTER-SCHOOL SUPERVISOR
Assists in supervision of the public, primarily junior high age youth, after school. Directs inquiries to proper staff person; assists with implementation of recreation programs and special events offered by the Recreation Department as needed, including once per month Recess 101 (early dismissal days from school). May assist Recreation Supervisor, Fitness Manager, Facility Manager, Assistant Rink Manager or Recreation Manager in projects other than those program-related as needed. Cross-trained to provide custodial/set-up needs. (Note: Perfect for someone entering the fields of education or social work; limited opportunity for study.)
SKATE PARK ATTENDANT
Responsible for maintaining a safe, healthy, and enjoyable skateboarding and in-line skating environment at an outdoor skate park. Attendant maintains order, enforces rules and policies of the department, ensures participants have paid, picks up area and may have light first aid responsibilities. Weekday evenings (4:00-8:00 p.m.) and weekend hours (1:00–4:00 p.m.) Direct supervision is received from the Recreation Manager. (Note: Optimal opportunity for study during sessions.)
FITNESS ATTENDANT
Fitness Center opens mid-November 2007. Staffs the fitness center area to include greeting customers, answering phone, assisting guests on the equipment in the fitness center; keeping the fitness center clean (wiping down machines, vacuuming, etc.); monitoring guests’ use of equipment; directing inquiries to proper staff person; any other duties as assigned by Fitness Supervisor. ICE RINK FACILITY ATTENDANT

Under the supervision of the Writing Center Coordinator and senior ARC staff, the Graduate Writing Coach will work individually with graduate and undergraduate students on their papers; read, comment upon, and respond to papers sent to the On-line Writing Center; assist in maintaining the smooth and efficient operation of the Writing Center; and perform other tasks as requested. The Graduate Writing Coach will complete the Writing Coach Training Program; coach graduate and undergraduate students on their papers and other writing matters, both as walk-ins and by appointment; complete a session report form after each coaching appointment; comment on and respond to on-line papers as requested; properly enter on-line papers into the logbook; warmly greet all students who enter or phone the Center and help students schedule appointments ; check phone messages and promptly return calls; perform other duties as assigned, such as writing “Writing Tips” handouts, refilling the printer, tidying up the Writing Center, making copies.
Qualifications:
B.A., preferably in English, Communications, or other writing intensive field. Excellent writing skills. Recommendation from at least one professor. Great people and communication skills. Tutoring or other teaching experience strongly desirable, but not necessary.

A great opportunity for anyone who loves writing or is interested in a teaching career. The Writing Center offers free and friendly writing advice to students, staff, and faculty at Webster University. Our trained coaches help with every stage of the writing process, including brainstorming ideas, organizing papers, and documenting sources. In addition, coaches also respond on-line to papers submitted by students who are studying abroad or at one of Webster’s extended campuses. The Peer Coach will work one-on-one with undergraduate students on their papers; read, comment upon, and respond to papers sent to the On-line Writing Center; assist in maintaining the smooth and efficient operation of the Writing Center; write and edit Hallway Handouts; and perform other tasks as requested. Students who are hired as Peer Coaches will participate in a paid training program before they begin meeting with students.
