Resident Assistants
2009-2010 Resident Assistants
The Resident Assistant (RA) is responsible for the development and enhancement of the community and each individual resident under their care in the residence halls or Webster Village Apartments. The RA supplements and complements the process of formal education by enhancing the quality of life in the residential community. RAs are expected to be known, visible and an active resident within their area of responsibility and the entire hall/complex as well. Expectations include maintaining communication between residents and professional staff, implementation of the on-campus policies, procedures and regulations, as well as those of the University, and participation in the day to day operations of the facility as assigned by professional staff. The RA provides leadership for all residents and assists in planning of educational and social activities that make the group living experience support student learning & retention.

John Buck, D. Mgt., Director, Housing and Residential Life

John Buck serves as Associate Dean of Students and Director of Housing and Residential Life. Buck holds a BA in sociology from Colorado State University, an MA in Management and Leadership from Webster University, and a Doctorate in Management from Webster University. In addition to his roles with housing and residential life, Buck also supervises student health services, counseling and life development, and coordinates WebsterLEADS, the university's leadership development program. He is adjunct faculty at Webster and frequently consults for non-profit and private sector organizations. His doctoral dissertation research focused on the decision-making processes of chief housing officers during crisis situations on college campuses.

Sarah Tetley, Assistant Director, Housing and Residential Life

Sarah's primary responsibilities are to supervise both Community Directors and the Housing Coordinator, manage Academic Initiatives for the Department (ex: learning communities), act as a Student Conduct Officer, and work with other Departments around campus in creating a well-rounded residential experience. She also advises the Residential Housing Association (RHA) and the Student Board of Directors for Campus Dining. She has been working professionally in the Residence Life field for the last eight years. She received her bachelors at Missouri State in Communications, her Masters in Higher Education Administration from Saint Louis University, and is working towards her PhD in Higher Education Administration. On a personal note she has two daughters, Ginevieve (4yrs, 3mths) and Kayte (1yr, 3 mnths) and spends her free time playing with her kids, reading, or scrapbooking!

Katie McComb, Assistant Director, Webster Village Apartments

Katie is responsible for coordinating many departmental processes, including RA Training and RA Selection. She also supervises the following student staff members: Student Coordinator of Building Operations, Student Coordinator of Special Projects, Student Sustainability Coordinator, Customer Service Associates, and Desk Attendants. In addition, she manages the department's marketing plan and website updates. In her free time, you can find Katie enjoying Forest Park, reading a good book, or perusing the Fresh Ink Hallmark cards. She has 2 cats named Watson and Wink, and she's getting married in November!

Chris Rice, Community Director for the Webster Village Apartments and Maria Hall

Chris is the Community Director for the Webster Village Apartments and Maria Hall. He manages the day-to-day operations of the WVA and Maria Hall which includes facilities and maintenance, staffing and personnel issues, student conduct issues, room changes, student success initiatives, and serving as a resource for all students. Chris also supervises 10 Resident Assistants; 6 in the WVA and 4 in Maria Hall. Chris received his Bachelor’s of Arts in Political Science from Winthrop University. He received his Masters of Arts in Student Affairs Administration in Higher Education from Ball State University.

Jennifer Casady, Community Director for West and East Halls

Jennifer is the Community Director for West and East Halls, and she supervises the RA staff for those buildings. She works with the day-to-day operation of the halls including facilities, judicial hearings, room adjustments, student success, and is a resource for students. Jennifer also serves as the advisor for the National Residency Hall Honorary (NRHH). NRHH represents the top 1% of student leaders living on-campus. Jennifer is a huge fan of the Harry Potter books, enjoys going to the movies, and learning about soccer!

Kelly Malone, Coordinator, Housing and Residential Life

Kelly handles room placement, billing, meal plan and bonus bucks contracts. She also oversees the hall resident mailrooms and supervises the Customer Service Associates for the Residence Halls. Kelly has worked for the Office of Housing and Residential Life for 15 years. She is married and has three children in college and grad school. She loves to watch waterpolo, swimming and hockey. She reads and watches old movies in her free time.

Larry Mitchell, Maintenance Supervisor, Webster Village Apartments

Larry Mitchell is the Maintenance Supervisor at the Webster Village Apartments. He manages the overall facilities, landscape and general maintenance of the apartments. Larry supervises a full time Maintenance Assistant and 2 student staff. Larry has been with the WVA since it opened in 1997 and has won numerous Maintenance Man of the Year awards. In his downtime, Larry like to fix old cars, hang out with his family and watch movies.

Lauren Meyer, Student Coordinator of Building Operations, Housing and Residential Life

Lauren facilitates West, East, and Maria Hall front desk functions. She supervises the desk managers and desk attendants. She also coordinates the schedule of operations for each desk location. Lauren is from St. Louis, MO but went to high school in Michigan --so don't ask! :)

Megan works with several large departmental processes, such as Resident Assistant Selection and Room Re-Sign. She supervises the Student Sustainability Coordinator, who is developing and pushing toward creating a more sustainable housing system. Megan is a senior Speech Communication Studies major with a double minor in Theatre and Psychology.

Emily Pieper works with the Customer Service Associates to coordinate schedules and improve office procedures. She is a junior Music Education major. Emily grew up on a farm in Southeast Iowa and enjoys reading, and playing the piano.
