Room Assignments: When are room assignments mailed out?
For the upcoming fall semester, room and roommate assignments are emailed to your
Webster University email address in mid-July. If you are moving in mid-year, you will
receive an email to your Webster University email address with your housing assignment
one or more weeks prior to your move-in date.
Room Assignments: Can first year and upperclass students room together?
Typically, freshmen are housed together with other freshmen. Exceptions to this must
be approved by professional staff.
Room Assignments: How are room assignments made?
We accept applications on a first come first served basis. We strive to give people
their first choice in housing while also considering their best roommate matches.
Roommates: How are roommates assigned?
For students new to campus housing, we request that you complete the Personal Data
section as part of your application. This section asks questions about whether you
are a day or night person, how you like to study, music preferences, hobbies, etc.
We use this to match you up as best we can. If you want to request a specific person to be your roommate, you need his/her student
ID number when completing the application. In addition, the person you name must also
write your ID number on his/her Personal Data section. If the request is not mutual, we will not be able to fulfill it.
Roommates / Room Changes: How do I change roommates or rooms?
We typically will not consider room/roommate change requests for at least the first
two weeks of the semester. Requests are reviewed on a case-by-case basis. If a request
is approved, room changes typically will not take place until the end of the term
during break periods (Fall Break, Winter Break, Spring Break), unless emergency situations
dictate otherwise.
If you are experiencing problems with roommates or suitemates, please take time to speak with those individuals to reach a compromise. All residents should complete a Roommate / Suitemate Agreement Form to assist with these conversations. If you are unable to resolve the issue, please speak with your RA and arrange a mediation if needed. If your issue remains unsolved, you can fill out a Room Change Request Form, available from the ResLife or WVA Offices. Please be aware that if those first two steps are not taken (speaking directly with roommates and working with RA), your Room Change Request Form will not be considered.
There are costs associated with Room Changes. These costs are outlined on the Room Change Request Form.
