Student Staff Recruitment for 2008-2009:

Selection Timeline
MANDATORY Info Sessions will be held:
November 12      7PM                WVA Clubhouse
November 13      Noon              University Center Presentation Room
November 14      7PM                West Hall Multipurpose Room

Applications will be available only through the info sessions held in November. If a student cannot make one of the three above listed info sessions, contact Sarah Tetley at 314-246-2021.

Completed Applications are due Wednesday, January 16, 2007 by 4:30pm to the Housing and Residential Life Office.

Applicants will sign up for the recruitment process as they submit their completed application to the Department of Housing and Residential Life.


Application review will take place prior to the process. Applicants will be notified of their process schedule by January 21st.

Applicants will preference a time on Saturday, January 26th for the group process and Sunday, January 27th for the interviews.  These sessions are required

Recruitment Process is the weekend of January 26th and 27th.  Attendance to both the Saturday and Sunday sessions is required.

Applicants are also required to participate in an internship with current RAs in the spring semester. These dates and instruction will be given on the acceptance form if offered a position. In addition, applicants are required to attend a daylong seminar with Residential life staff from other St. Louis area colleges and universities; currently, this date is set at the day of hiring.

Staff Positions

Resident Assistant

The Resident Assistant (RA) will be responsible for the development and enhancement of the community and each individual resident under their care in the residence halls or Webster Village Apartments (The Village).  The RA supplements and complements the process of formal education by enhancing the quality of life in the residential community.  RAs are expected to be known, visible and an active resident within their area of responsibility and the entire hall/complex as well.  Expectations include maintaining communication between residents and professional staff, implementation of the on campus policies, procedures and regulations, as well as those of the University, and participation in the day to day operations of the facility as assigned by professional staff.  The RA provides leadership for all residents and assists in planning of educational and social activities that make the group living experience support student learning & retention.

Assistant Hall Director

The Assistant Hall Director (AHD) is a part time, student position at Webster University. The position offers an opportunity to develop skills in implementing developmental programming, managing budgets, and administrative decision making. The AHD is expected to assist the Hall Director in the overall administration of a residence hall area of approximately 430 students and 14 paraprofessional student staff. The AHD is directly supervised by the Residence Hall Director. Changes in duties and time commitments may change depending on departmental and staff needs.
