No organization can afford to be isolated from its surrounding community. Real people walk through our doors everyday from many different parts the region. We have endeavored to bring all types of people to our door and together in a number of ways.

We do this through involvement in community groups, business organizations, lectures at lunch, group meetings, a visual arts center, and a variety of other activities. Webster University engages with its community.

    Lunch and Learn

Webster University hosts a Lunch & Learn series featuring speakers from throughout the region. Webster University Lunch & Learn is an opportunity to discover interesting things about business, life, and leisure while trying out food from some of Louisville’s finest restaurants and caterers.

    Webster Works Worldwide

Annually, Webster University sponsors a campus-wide community service day in partnership with local agencies and nonprofit organizations. Students, faculty, staff and alumni work in teams to accomplish tasks that agencies often neglect due to lack of time and resources.

Projects include light construction work, tutoring, painting, yard work, working with children or seniors, park and forest restoration, consulting, and fine arts projects.

Now held every fall across the nation at Webster campuses, the program involves nearly 1,400 volunteers who, on average, perform over 6,000 hours of community service.

Although the number of volunteers and agencies served are noteworthy, the lasting impact is best reflected in the comments of participants - both agency and volunteer.

Here are some of their thoughts:

    • "It’s a Webster tradition... It’s rewarding to get something accomplished for an agency that does good work ..."
    • "An incredible event! It is symbolic of the culture at Webster."
    • "This WWW experience epitomized the way serving others can get into your heart and frame all your ‘problems’ into a new and very insignificant perspective."

    Webster University Visual Arts Center

Taking a cue from the fine photography gallery at our main campus in St. Louis, the May Gallery, we exhibit the work of fine artists selected from across the country. This creates an inviting place to come to for our students, a more stimulating work environment for faculty and staff, and something new and exciting every six weeks or so for our local community.

Our campus is located among many arts and cultural attractions. The historic Water Tower houses the Louisville Visual Arts Association, nearby Frankfort Avenue is home to many galleries, cafes and restaurants, nightclubs, and shops and hosts a art gallery trolley hop the last Friday of the month.

    Business Connections

Webster University works with small, medium, and large businesses throughout the region.  As an active member of Greater Louisville, Inc., The Chamber of Jeffersontown, and the Southern Indiana Chamber of Commerce, Webster is continually building relationships throughout the community.

The business community is a vital element of the region and Webster University is committed to strengthening businesses and other institutions throughout Kentucky and Indiana.
