Students who complete the Command & General Staff College (CGSC) at Fort Leavonworth, Kansas, are eligible for the following:
- Up to 12 credit hours toward a Webster University Master's degree; or,
- Up to 9 credit hours transferred from the core CGSC curriculum toward an M.B.A., plus an additional 3 credit hours for a specific leadership-related course offered during CGSC.
To receive credit for a CGSC non-resident course and CAS3, contact an academic advisor.
All classes meet one night a week Monday through Thursday. There are no weekend classes. Breaks in the Webster University terms correspond to the CGSC-scheduled Christmas and other national holidays.
There are two different sessions of CGSC. The first starts in August and finishes in June. The second starts in February and finishes in December.
Tuition Information
If you qualify for tuition assistance (TA) from the Department of Defense, it will pay up to $250 per credit hour up to a total of $4,500 each fiscal year.
Currently, military students pay $135 out-of-pocket for each class. A typical year at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, spans two fiscal years and a degree from Webster can be fully funded by TA.
Also, students are now allowed to use VA benefits to pay their portion of tuition assistance if they want. This VA program is called "Top Up" and is used in conjunction with tuition assistance.

CGSC Students can register for Webster's graduate classes at the Post Activities Information and Registration (PAIR) Day or during the initial in-processing weeks of CGSC. PAIR day is normally conducted in the first two weeks of the CGSC term.
