Concerto and Aria Competition

      • Winner(s) will perform with the Webster University Orchestra in April 2017 or October 2017.
      • Competition is open to currently enrolled full-time graduate or undergraduate students at Webster University. All competitors must be currently studying with Webster University Department of Music Faculty. 
      • One instrumental winner and one vocal winner will be selected.
      • Instrumental competitors must perform one movement from a standard concerto or an orchestrated solo concert piece.  All works must be set for a standard orchestral instrument (String, Woodwind, Brass, Percussion, Piano or Guitar).  All repertoire must be approved in advance by the conductor of the Webster University Orchestra.
      • Aria competitors must perform an aria or an orchestrated art song not to exceed 8 minutes in length.  All repertoire must be approved in advance by the conductor of the Webster University Orchestra.  
      • All competitors MUST perform with an accompanist.  Competitors are responsible to provide their own accompanist.  
      • The competition will take place on February 4, 2017 in the Recital Hall in the Thompson House Music Building at Webster University, 8282 Big Bend Blvd., Webster Groves, MO 63119. 
      • All applications must be received by 12:00 Noon on January 24, 2017. The application form can be downloaded and printed here.
      • A competition schedule will be e-mailed to participants and posted by January 30, 2017. 
      • The competition reserves the right to declare no winner in a given category, if an appropriate candidate is not determined by the adjudication panel.

DEADLINE: To enter, complete and return the application form no later than 12:00 Noon, January 24, 2017.
