Scott Lyle

Scott Lyle received an undergraduate degree in Music Performance summa cum laude from the University of Missouri-St. Louis, and a master’s degree in Composition from Washington University in Saint Louis.

He has taught in the St. Louis area at many private studios and has performed extensively with various ensembles since the 1980’s. Scott has done a considerable amount of recording/studio work including sessions for Stages St. Louis and other area institutions. In his spare time, he likes to compose music and has scored music for two ballet organizations. Scott is currently writing a book illustrating the contemporary conventions of music notation. He enjoys performing music of all eras and harbors a particular penchant for the avant garde and post-tonal contemporary milieu.  

Scott is also employed by Maryville University in St. Louis where he instructs guitar students and is engaged as a lecturer in Music Theory, Ear Training, and Music Notation Technology courses.
