Paula Martin

Adjunct Professor of Music Education

Paula Martin holds a BS Degree in Music Education from the University of Missouri, Columbia and the Masters Degree in Music Education, with emphasis in Early American Choral Music, from Southern Illinois University–Edwardsville

Mrs. Martin also holds a Masters Degree in Music Education, with emphasis in Secondary Instruction (Choral) from the University of Missouri–St. Louis.

Mrs. Martin has been a high school choral director for thirty years, having taught general music, band, and choir at the elementary, middle school, and high school levels. Her ensembles have enjoyed many years of success, including five performances for the Missouri Music Educators Association as well as a performance for the Southwestern divisional conference of the American Choral Directors Association. Mrs. Martin’s high school choirs at both Grandview R-2, and more recently, Oakville Senior High School have received thirty years of consecutive Honor 1 Ratings at the MSHSAA-sponsored State Festival for Large Ensembles. Mrs. Martin has coached over fifty students who were selected to perform with Missouri All-State Choir, and has had nearly twenty students selected to perform with divisional ACDA Honor Choirs. Hundreds of her students have been Honor 1 Rating recipients at the MSHSAA-sponsored State Festival for Small Ensembles and Solos.

Mrs. Martin has conducted traditional choirs, show choirs, chamber choirs, and madrigal ensembles. She produced an annual Madrigal Dinner Theatre show for more than twenty years. She has also collaborated to produce many high school musicals and review shows, including South Pacific, Oklahoma, Once Upon a Mattress, How to Succeed in Business, Guys and Dolls, The Luck Stiff, and 1940’s Radio Hour.

Paula Martin is an active adjudicator and clinician, having conducted honor choirs throughout Missouri and the Midwest, including Mineral Area All-Conference Choir, Pacific area All-Conference Choir, and the Southeast Missouri All-District Honor Choir. Mrs. Martin is currently serving as the Missouri Choral Directors Association R&S Chair for Women’s Choirs. She was the MCDA Podium Award Recipient in 2013 and has been recognized as the Outstanding Music Educator by the St. Louis Suburban Music Educators Association in 2002 and 2011.
