Sue Taylor

Adjunct Professor of Harp

Sue Taylor received a master’s degree in harp from Washington University. Her instructors include Mary Spalding Sevitzky and Ruth Moore Cobb, students of Carlos Salzedo, along with Frances Tietov, who studied with Marcel Grandjany. She is the instructor in harp at Washington University, where she also teaches courses in music history and holds both a master’s degree and Ph.D. in musicology from that university.

As a Fulbright Scholar she had a one-year doctoral research fellowship to Vienna, Austria, where her research focused on the writing for harp in the works of Gustav Mahler. She is harpist with the St. Louis Philharmonic and performs with Winter Opera St. Louis and the Gateway Festival Orchestra. She has played with a number of orchestras in the area, including as an extra player with the Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra.
