The Jazz Collective Presents a A 'Green' Concert- 11/19/12
The Webster University Jazz Collective, under the direction of James A. Martin, will perform "A 'Green' Concert." The instrumentation for the 14 piece jazz ensemble is non-traditional: violin, flute, alto, tenor and baritone saxophones, two trumpets, euphonium and bass trombones, piano, guitar, bass and drums. Featured on the concert will be compositions collectively arranged by the ensemble as two pieces with prominent 'Green' in the title. The program includes:
Music from Les Hooper, the haunting jazz standard "On Green Dolphin Street" and the original ballad "Broken Images"
Maria Schneider, "Green Piece" and "Bird Count," (a tribute to Charles Mingus),
Matt Harris, "Matt Mattox"and "Mambo de Memo" and a blues by legendary saxophonist
Don Menza, "Back Home"
When: Monday, Nov. 19, 2012, 7 p.m.
Where: Moore Auditorium, 470 E. Lockwood Ave., Webster University
Cost: $3 general public, Free to students with valid I.D.
