Jan. 25 Hunt Gallery Opening: Laura Beard's 'Recursion'
Laura Beard's solo exhibition presents several large-scale abstract paintings as well as recent works on paper.
Laura Beard‘s solo exhibition, “Recursion,” will be exhibited in the Hunt Gallery from Jan. 25 – Feb. 23. Gallery hours are 10 a.m. – 4 p.m., Monday – Friday, or by appointment.
An opening reception will be held Friday, Jan. 25, 6 – 8 p.m., in the Hunt Gallery. The exhibit and reception are free and open to the public.
In addition, Beard will discuss her work during an artist lecture, open to the public, on Friday, Jan. 25, noon – 1 p.m., in Sverdrup Complex, room 101.
Beard's solo exhibition presents several large-scale abstract paintings as well as recent works on paper. Now based in Texas, Beard taught in Webster's Department of Art, Design, and Art History from 1998-2009 and at Washington University from 2004-09. She is currently assistant professor of painting and drawing at University of North Texas in Denton.
Beard's work is in the tradition of second generation AE gestural painters like Joan Mitchell, and yet they are completely engaged with contemporary aesthetic dialogue. She has an extensive exhibition record including recent solo and group shows in Texas and New York.
