Jazz Concert by the Webster University Jazz Collective- 4/22/13
The Webster University Jazz Collective, under the direction of James A. Martin, will perform its final concert of the semester on April 22, 2013. The instrumentation for the 14-piece jazz ensemble is non-traditional: violin; alto, tenor and baritone saxophones; three trumpets; euphonium and bass trombones; piano; guitar; bass and drums.
Featured in the concert will be compositions collectively arranged by the ensemble, drawn from the rich musical heritage of American Jazz. The program includes music from: Count Basie Band by Sammy Nestico, "That Warm Feeling;" Don Sebesky, "Song for Cymbaline;" Bill Cunliffe — who, in 1989 won the Thelonious Monk International Jazz Piano Award — "Napier and Samba de Milton;" Cole Porter "Ev'ry Time We Say Goodbye;" Paul McKee "That's What I Thought;" as well as several other compositions.
