NBC Affiliate Turns to Webster Professor to Discuss Popular Teen Mobile App
Webster University School of Communications professor Eileen Solomon appeared on NBC TV affiliate KSDK (NewsChannel 5) in St. Louis to discuss the implications of SnapChat, a photo sharing app that is increasingly popular among teenagers.
The app is very popular among high school students, who sometimes send explicit pictures -- raising concerns about those pictures in the moment, as well as how they can be used in the future despite the app's temporary nature.
"There's two ways it can last forever," Solomon says. "One is that someone can easily take a screenshot of it, whatever you post on there. And in their terms of service, their privacy agreement they note, even though they disappear it doesn't mean they're completely private. If you want it to be completely private, don't use it."
