Webster University Opens New Campus Location in Kansas City

Kansas City Location New site offers more amenities and access to students

KANSAS CITY (APRIL 17, 2015) - Webster University’s oldest metro campus is now one of its newest. A grand opening of the new home for Webster University’s Kansas City location will be held at 5:30 p.m. April 22. The new location offers a more academic feel and more modern amenities for students while also raising Webster University’s profile in the region.

Webster University has been offering classes in Kansas City since 1966 and opened its first full-time campus there in 1972 as the first permanent Webster University location outside of St. Louis. Over the years, the campus has grown substantially. When it first opened, students only could earn a Master’s in Teaching degree. Today, the campus offers a mix of graduate and undergraduate courses.

“Markets are always evolving, and Webster University adapts to those changes by offering world-class programs that are in demand by local employers and students,” said Nancy Hellerud, vice provost of Academic Affairs at Webster University. “This new location is more visible, and the space has been designed to foster an environment of collaboration among students and faculty and elevate the education experience.”

The new location, at 10450 Holmes Street, Suite #100, has about 19,000 square feet of space. The new space is designed to encourage collaboration among students and faculty.

The new site has a dozen classrooms, three computer labs, a reception area, seven offices, seven workspaces, an employee break room, a student lounge, advising space, and extra space that can easily be converted into additional classrooms or labs. It also has easy access to area freeways, making it more convenient for students who may be heading to class from work.

The Kansas City location is one of more than 60 locations that Webster University operates globally.

With its home campus in St. Louis, Webster University (www.webster.edu) is the only Tier 1, private, non-profit U.S.-based university providing a network of international residential campuses and a robust online learning program. Founded in 1915, Webster University’s campus network today includes metropolitan, military and corporate locations around the world, as well as traditional campuses in Asia, Europe, North America, and Africa. The university is committed to delivering high-quality learning experiences that transform students for global citizenship and individual excellence.
