Webster University Launches New Strategic Plan Global Impact for the Next Century

Webster University Board of Trustees endorsed the University’s new strategic plan, “Global Impact for the Next Century.”

ST. LOUIS (APRIL 29, 2015) – Webster University Board of Trustees endorsed the University’s new strategic plan, “Global Impact for the Next Century,” at its board meeting earlier this month. The new plan emphasizes a strong commitment to maximizing Webster’s academic and operational assets and firmly establishes Webster’s reputation as a global university.

“With an appreciation for the accomplishments of Webster’s first century and enthusiasm for our future, members of the Webster University community have created a plan for global impact. We will integrate the university’s academics and operations in innovative and inclusive ways for the benefit of our students and the worldwide communities they call home,” said President Elizabeth (Beth) J. Stroble. “I’d like to thank the Strategic Planning Steering Committee members and the hundreds of faculty, staff and students who provided input into the plan. It’s more than a plan – it’s a roadmap for Webster’s future.”

“As a strong, truly international university, Webster will provide uniquely global experiences, which prepare students to lead in their local communities and around the world,” added Julian Schuster, Webster’s provost, chief operating officer and senior vice president.

The plan calls for Webster University to achieve global impact via four globally-focused themes that will become the University’s balanced scorecard:

  • Global innovation through inclusive leadership
  • A global student-centered experience
  • A network of academic and operational excellence
  • Strategic and sustainable development

Nancy Hellerud, vice provost, chaired the Strategic Planning process, which began in fall 2013. “We are looking to the future in an action-oriented way,” she said. “Now that the plan has been endorsed by Webster’s Board of Trustees, we are moving full-speed ahead. Implementations of some initiatives are either in progress or they will start this summer.”

“This is an exciting and historic time for Webster University,” Stroble said. “As we celebrate our Centennial, we understand the creation of the new strategic plan is a defining moment as a University community. Our plan builds upon 100 years of bold ideas, reinvention and resiliency. Webster’s future is bright.”
