Office of Military Affairs Adds to Offerings for Military Families
Webster University has entered into agreements with both the National Military Family Association (NMFA) and the Children of Fallen Patriots Foundation to assist military families with tuition costs.
January 29, 2015 – Webster University has entered into agreements with both the National
Military Family Association (NMFA) and the Children of Fallen Patriots Foundation
to assist military families with tuition costs.
The National Military Family Association (NMFA), a nonprofit that works to strengthen
and protect military families, announced the new collaboration with Webster University
to offer military spouses exclusive access to its most preferred tuition rates. These
preferred rates can save military spouses between $100 and $400 per credit hour depending
on their undergraduate, graduate, and online options.
“Military families move a lot—around the country and around the world—which makes
finishing a degree difficult.,” said Joyce Raezer, NMFA Executive Director. “Webster’s
numerous locations and online options will open up many degree options for our military
families, and we’re glad to see Webster’s recognition of the military family lifestyle
and their commitment to help make life better for these families.”
NMFA is expanding its mission to support military spouses’ education goals by pursuing
academic partnerships with reputable organizations who understand and accommodate
the unique needs of the military lifestyle. Webster University – which already offers
most preferred rates to Active Duty, National Guard and Reserve military service members
– now has agreed to extend those rates exclusively to spouses applying through the
NMFA website.
“We are very pleased to partner with the NMFA as their mission aligns very well with
ours; namely to provide resources to our military families that allows them to achieve
their educational goals” stated Dr Greg Gunderson, Webster University’s Vice President
and Chief Financial Officer.
The most preferred tuition rates are available to new students only and NMFA must
certify any student applying to Webster University. For more detailed information,
visit the NMFA website.
Webster is also collaborating with the Children of Fallen Patriots Foundation on a
new initiative to provide financial scholarships and recognition to eligible Webster
University students who are enrolled with the Children of Fallen Patriots Foundation’s
Grant Program.
“We are thrilled to be working with Webster University,” explains Eric Heineman, Director
of Strategic Partnerships for Children of Fallen Patriots Foundation. “Our commitment
to our military children is unwavering, and having Webster University’s global educational
footprint on our team will bring increasing availability for our military children
to make their educational goals come true.”
The initiative will provide a $5,000 competitive annual scholarship to be awarded
to Children of Fallen Patriots Foundation Grant eligible students chosen by a scholarship
committee headed by Brig Gen Mike Callan, USAF (Ret), of the Office of Military Affairs
at Webster University. The committee will choose from full-time undergraduate students
(minimum of 13 credit hours per semester) who will attend Webster University’s home
campus in St Louis, MO. Fallen Patriots Grant Scholars will receive individual recognition
at their graduation ceremony and other similar events. Additionally, any Fallen Patriots
Grant Scholar who applies and is accepted for graduate enrollment at any Webster University
location will be awarded the same military tuition rates as the Active Duty, National
Guard and Reserve students at Webster University.
With its home campus in St. Louis, Webster University is the only Tier 1, private, non-profit U.S.-based University providing a network
of domestic and international residential campuses and a robust online learning program.
Founded in 1915, Webster University’s campus network today includes metropolitan,
military and corporate locations around the world, as well as traditional campuses
in Asia, Europe, North America, and Africa. The university is committed to delivering
high-quality learning experiences that transform students for global citizenship and
individual excellence.
