Missouri's First and Second Poet Laureates Together at Webster University
Walter Bargen, Missouri's first poet laureate will read from his poetry at the invitation of Missouri's recently appointed second poet laureate, David Clewell, Webster University English professor, at Webster University, Thursday, April 1, at 1:30 p.m.
The reading is part of Clewell's long-standing Visiting Writers Series at Webster University that brings poets and fiction and non-fiction writers to the University from nation wide. The reading will be held in Webster University's Pearson House, Room 2 and is free and open to the public.
Walter Bargen has been Missouri's poet laureate since 2008 and is the author of thirteen books of poems-most recently, Days Like This Are Necessary: New & Selected Poems. His poems have appeared in dozens of magazines and journals, including Denver Quarterly, Poetry East, Prairie Schooner, The Missouri Review, and New Letters. He has also been the recipient of a National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship.
