    Webster University Big Band Concert: Three Views of the Contemporary Big Band including 1924 to Infinity!- The Music and Influences of Sun Ra

    What/Who:

    The Webster University Big Band (James A. Martin, director) invites two outstanding bands for a concert of fresh approaches to composing for a Big Band and large Jazz Ensemble.

    Christopher Braig will direct the The Chaminade College Preparatory Cosmic Myth Science Archestra in two compositions in the style of Sun Ra (1914 – 1993).

    Mr. Braig then directs the eight musicians of the Webster University Mini Big Band in new arrangements by the musicians of ‘Body and Soul’ and ‘A Call for All Demons,’ again using the musical influence of Sun Ra as a point of inspiration.

    The evening concludes with the Webster University Big Band playing six contemporary pieces of modern big band writing.
