    Webster University Big Band Concert: Featuring Jazz Compositions by Wayne Shorter, Bill Holman, Matt Harris and others

    What/Who:

    The Webster University Big Band, under the direction of James A. Martin, will perform a concert featuring jazz compositions by Wayne Shorter, Bill Holman, Matt Harris and others. Big Band music often consists of compositions written by one person and arranged by another. The Webster University Big Band will perform Big Band selections which were composed and arranged by the same brilliant jazz musician. Selections include:

    Opus in Chartreuse, composed by Gene Roland, arr. by Paul Murtha (as made famous by the Stan Kenton orchestra)

    No Heat, composed and arranged by Bill Holman (a famous alumnus of the Stan Kenton Orchestra)

    Poppin’ Fresh, composed and arranged by Les Hooper

    That’s What I Thought, composed and arranged by Paul McKee

    Forgotten Dreams, composed and arranged by Mike Tomaro

    Speak No Evil, composed by Wayne Shorter, arranged by Mike Tomaro

    Mambo De Memo, composed and arranged by Matt Harris

    When: Monday, Nov. 16, 2009, 7 p.m.

    Where: Winifred Moore Auditorium, 470 E. Lockwood Ave.

    Cost: $5 at the door.
