Webster University's Message of Condolence Regarding the Fort Hood and Orlando Shootings

I’m sure you’re all aware of the tragic events that unfolded late last week at Fort Hood, Texas, and in Orlando, Fla. The University and many members of our University family have a strong connection to both communities. Our first campus in North Orlando opened in 1991 to serve residents and military personnel, followed by our second campus, in South Orlando, in 1995.  In addition, we have many online students stationed at the Ft. Hood installation. Advisors from our Fort Sam Houston campus travel to Fort Hood on a regular basis to recruit and advise these students. We also have a few soldiers who drive from Fort Hood to our campus in San Antonio for Saturday classes.

We are grateful that no members of the Webster community were physically harmed in either incident. On the eve of Veteran’s Day here in the United States, it seems appropriate to express our appreciation to the military personnel who are part of the Webster family.
