Jazz Guitarist Peter Leitch with the Peter Leitch Trio in Concert at Webster University's May Gallery
What/Who:The Webster University May Gallery presents jazz guitarist Peter Leitch with the Peter Leitch Trio in concert. The concert will feature Peter Leitch, guitar, Ric Vice, bass and Kevin Gianino, drums. This special performance in presented in conjunction with Peter Leitch’s photography exhibit “New York to New Orleans, 2000-2007” featured at the May Gallery, February 27-March27.
In the words of Paul De Marinis, Director of Jazz Studies at Webster University, Mr. Leitch is “a consummate performer who is firmly rooted in the rich tradition of the modern jazz guitar. He brings a virtuoso technique, a deep jazz conception, and a wealth of experience to each performance.”
Based in New York, Mr. Leitch has performed or recorded with some of the greatest names in jazz including pianist Oscar Peterson; bassist Ron Carter; vibraphonist Milt Jackson; trumpeters Woody Shaw and Kenny Wheeler; and saxophonists Pepper Adams, Gary Bartz, and Steve Wilson. He conducts workshops, master classes, and clinics in jazz guitar and improvisation in the US, Europe, Canada, and Australia. Mr. Leitch’s resume as a jazz educator includes associations with Long Island University, the National Guitar Workshop, the Summer Guitar Workshop at New York University, and the Berklee School of Music in Boston. Mr. Leitch visited Webster University as a jazz clinician in the 1990’s.
