Webster Professor Recognized as a Hero of the Planet

Ann Mack, professor in the Education for Global Sustainability Graduate Certificate program at Webster University, has been awarded the St. Louis Business Journal’s Sustainable Visionary Award as part of the newspaper’s Heroes of the Planet Awards. Mack has taught various energy and sustainability courses at Webster University for more than 20 years.

Mack is the executive director of Trailnet, a nonprofit which is fostering healthy and active communities through innovative programs, planning, and policies that promote walking and bicycling throughout the St. Louis bi-state region. True to her cause, she bikes 75 miles roundtrip each week from her home in Webster Groves to Trailnet’s downtown office.

The Sustainable Visionary Award is the only award within the Heroes of the Planet Awards that is given to an individual. These awards honor and promote businesses that have led the way in advancing and promoting environmental sustainability within our region.

With its home campus in St. Louis, Webster University is a worldwide institution committed to delivering high-quality learning experiences that transform students for global citizenship and individual excellence. Founded in 1915, Webster offers undergraduate and graduate degree programs through five schools and colleges, and a global network of more than 100 campuses.
